Quite frankly, at Wilkinson Baking Company, our goal is audacious. This is it: We want to fundamentally change the way that people buy their bread.

We think bread should be fresher. Healthier. Tastier. And more friendly to our little planet.

With that in mind, we've created the Bread Bakery. There's nothing else like it. In its small 40 square foot footprint, bread will now be baked fresh daily in neighborhoods around the globe. Customers will be able to select a freshly baked loaf of bread as it comes out of the oven - fresher than they've ever been able to before.

Because the consumer gets the loaf immediately upon baking, there's no need for the preservative and chemical-laden recipes that are still so widely used. And because the loaf is baked in the neighborhood, the energy and labor-intensive practice of trucking airy loaves of bread from central bakeries is no longer necessary.

Privately held Wilkinson Baking is based in Walla Walla, Washington, on the edge of the famous Palouse wheat country.
